Netflix PUBG Live-Action Series Netflix is bringing one of the world’s most recognizable battle royale video games to television. The streaming platform is developing a live-action PUBG series, with award-winning actor and filmmaker Donald Glover attached to star, direct, write, and executive produce. His brother and longtime creative collaborator, Stephen Glover, will also write and executive produce the project.
The announcement, made by PUBG publisher KRAFTON on October 30, 2026, has attracted attention from gaming and entertainment fans. Although the series is still in development, the involvement of the Glover brothers makes this adaptation one of Netflix’s notable upcoming video game projects.
PUBG Live-Action Series: What Has Been Announced?
The upcoming series will be based on PUBG: Battlegrounds, the popular battle royale game developed and published by KRAFTON. Donald Glover will take on several major responsibilities, including acting, writing, directing, and executive producing.
His brother Stephen Glover is also joining the creative team as a writer and executive producer. The brothers have previously worked together on successful television projects, making their reunion an interesting development for the adaptation.
Other executive producers include Michael Schaefer for NEON TV, Fam Udeorji for Gilga, and Taeseok Jang and Sujin Lee for LV3H, KRAFTON’s entertainment division.
KRAFTON confirmed that LV3H will participate in the development and production of the series. However, Netflix has not yet revealed a complete creative team or additional casting details.
Will Donald Glover Play the Lead Character?
Yes. Donald Glover is attached to star in the PUBG live-action series, in addition to writing and directing it. This means audiences can expect him to be involved both behind and in front of the camera.
Glover is known for his work in television, film, comedy, and music. He gained widespread recognition through the NBC comedy Community, where he played Troy Barnes. He later created and starred in the critically acclaimed FX series Atlanta.
His other notable projects include Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Solo: A Star Wars Story, and The Lion King, in which he voiced Simba.
His experience across different genres could give the PUBG adaptation an interesting creative direction. Still, the character he will portray has not been revealed.
What Will the PUBG Netflix Series Be About?
This is one of the biggest questions surrounding the project. Netflix and KRAFTON have not announced the official plot, character descriptions, or setting for the live-action adaptation.
The original PUBG game does not follow a traditional scripted storyline. Instead, it places players on a large battlefield where they search for weapons, equipment, and vehicles while competing to become the last survivor.
The game is famous for its battle royale format, in which up to 100 players can compete in a match. As the playable area becomes smaller, players are forced into increasingly intense encounters.
The television adaptation gives the creative team an opportunity to build an original narrative around this concept. It could explore the people involved in the competition, the world surrounding the battleground, or the events that lead characters into the fight.
However, these are possibilities rather than confirmed story details. Fans will have to wait for Netflix to reveal the actual storyline.
Stephen Glover and Donald Glover Reunite for Another Project
The involvement of both brothers is another reason the announcement has attracted attention.
Donald and Stephen Glover previously worked together on Atlanta, the FX comedy-drama that explored the music industry, relationships, ambition, and life in the city. Donald created and starred in the series, while Stephen contributed as a writer and executive producer.
They also collaborated on projects including Swarm and the musical film Guava Island. Stephen has additional writing credits on Mr. & Mrs. Smith.
Their previous collaborations demonstrate their experience developing unusual characters and stories. The PUBG adaptation will give them a different creative challenge because it is based on a multiplayer game rather than a traditional television narrative.
When Will the PUBG Series Be Released on Netflix?
At the time of writing, Netflix has not announced an official release date for the PUBG live-action series.
The project is in development, and there is no confirmed production start date, episode count, or premiere window. Viewers should therefore avoid treating unofficial release predictions as confirmed information.
The next major updates are likely to include casting announcements, production details, a first look, and information about the show’s storyline.

Why PUBG Is a Major Opportunity for Netflix
Video game adaptations have become an important part of the entertainment industry. Popular gaming franchises offer established audiences, recognizable worlds, and opportunities to create stories that appeal to both longtime players and new viewers.
PUBG is particularly interesting because its battle royale gameplay does not come with a detailed, traditional narrative. That gives the writers considerable creative freedom to develop characters and a story while keeping the central survival concept.
KRAFTON has also highlighted PUBG’s global popularity and its seven Guinness World Records. Turning the franchise into a live-action series could introduce the game to viewers who have never played it.
For Netflix, the project adds another major gaming property to its growing adaptation lineup. The streaming platform has previously released projects based on video game franchises, including Arcane, Castlevania, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, and Devil May Cry.
